Today we worked more on tax and discount with an ongoing packet. No hw unless you need to do makeup work. Please see Synergy for work you might need to complete.
We worked on solving scale drawing word problems with proportions, converting drawing measurements to actual size measurements. The hw is to finish the rest of the sheet, 5 total problems.
The sub reviewed converting percents into decimals and you worked on calculating tax and discount. There was no hw.
Today we did a quick check on using constants of proportionality and learned about how to use scale factor to scale up from a drawing to actual size. We practiced a task and finished it in class. No hw unless you have makeup work to do.
All the notes and study guide with key for Unit 3 we are working on are ready to see, to the right. Videos are listed on that page as well for help and review.
Today we reviewed looking at tables to find the constant unit rate and graphed 3 tables, 2 with Mrs. Teague and 1 on your own from the Graphing Proportional Relationships packet. The 3 complete graphs are due tomorrow. We graphed #2, #8 and then you were to choose another table in the packet to do on your own. We will have a quick check on constants of proportionality tomorrow - knowing how to make a verbal description, find the constant unit rate, graph and write the equation for it. Today we used proportions and scale factor to find actual area in "scale drawings". Here is the lesson power point to watch to catch up for today and to fill in the scale factor notes.
Hw is to redo the Graphing Proportional Relationships sheet for a quiz grade, due Monday. Today students worked showing what they know with graphing and finding proportional relationships. No hw unless you have makeup work to do.
We worked on graphs, tables, equations, verbal descriptions and ratios of proportional relationships. No hw because everyone worked so well in class and finished the answer document!:)
See you tomorrow! Today we took notes on finding the constant unit rate in a table, equation, verbal description and a graph. No new hw.
Today we learned about how graphs and tables help us find the unit rate (or also called "constant of proportionality"). No hw except to finish the sheet we did in class.
Today we worked on making and solving proportions from word problems.
No hw unless you've been absent. Today we learned how to make proportions from word problems and solve. No new hw. See the notes here.
Today we reviewed how to determine if 2 fractions are proportional using the criss cross (or bow tie) multiplying method. We also learned how to solve for a missing part of the proportion and how to show the work.
HW- finish any other work due - see Friday's blog. Today we finished work on rounding rules, complex fractions, and unit rates/better buy. The following work is due Monday:
Independent Practice, p.361 Complex Fractions (hw) Shopping Takes Time (hw) Every Day Unit Rates (cw to finish) Remember to use the MSG pages posted here a few days ago for unit rates and complex fractions. All three sheets above Today we reviewed Rounding Rules to help with rounding to the nearest hundredth and tenth in this unit.
Hw; finish the Rounding (2 sheets) packet. Today we learned about finding the unit rate to determine the better buy.
Hw; "Shopping Takes Time" Find the unit rate of each pair, round to "money" (nearest hundredth), circle the better buy. Today we learned about using complex fractions. See the notes here to help you with your homework.
Hw - finish the "Independent Practice, p.361" sheet #1-9. Coming up: Calculating unit rates and the "better buy". Today we played trashketball to review skills needed for Unit 3 (Ratios and Proportions) such as dividing fractions, solving one-step equations, dividing with decimals, rounding rules, and determining proportions. No hw.
