We finished working on the area posters with variables. If you'd like more time to make your grade better for that assignment, come in early during homeroom to keep working. No hw.
Today we worked on the Unit 2 Touchstone and then glued in all the new MSG notes for Unit 3 into the MSG composition book. If you had time, you watched the unit rate videos and found the meanings for all the words on p. 344.
Videos: https://www.mathantics.com/section/lesson-video/ratios-and-rates http://mathsnacks.com/ratey.html Today, we continued working on the compound figures from yesterday. This assignment is the first classwork grade for the 3rd 9 weeks. We will be moving on to Unit 3 next week!
We worked with compound figures with variables to find area (A=lw). The assignment was to pick at least 4 of the figures and show work on the provided graphic organizer. No hw.
We finished the test questions - you all did a great job working today!
Happy Holidays!!! See you next year:) Today we worked on more missing/re-do assignments and test questions for solving 2-step equations and inequalities.
Today we worked on more missing math assignments and test questions for solving 2-step equations and inequalities.
Today we worked on missing math assignments and test questions for solving 2-step equations and inequalities.
Today we learned how to solve 2-step equations and inequality word problems. No hw.
Today we solved 2-step inequality problems like -4x + 5 > -3. The only difference in solving 2-step inequalities is that you have to flip the inequality symbol in your solution if you divide or multiply by a negative number. The solutions are different also from equations, there are infinitely many vs. just one!
Hw: finish maze if you have not done so yet. Here is the key but you must show your work on your own paper to get credit! We practiced solving 2-step equations today. HW- none if you turned in your 2-step equation maze last week. You have some if you have not turned yours in! All of the maze needs to be completed and turned in tomorrow. We will have a quiz tomorrow over solving 2-step equations like:
-3x - 4 = 8 and x/3 + 4 = -8. Today, we practiced more solving 2-step equations. We will move on to solving 2-step inequalities next week. HW - look at Synergy to see if you have any zeros to work on and turn in.
***Bonus points if you find a great video for me to show on Monday about solving 2-step inequalities! Today we took the 2nd Math Inventory test for the school year. There will be one more in May.
HW - watch videos from yesterday's blog and you can also play these games: https://www.quia.com/ba/143047.html https://www.quia.com/rr/325253.html http://www.crctlessons.com/two-step-equations-game.html Today we used a graphic organizer to practice solving 2-step equations. HW- Please finish assignments you know you need to do and/or look at synergy for zeros to work on! Here is a video to watch about solving 2-step equations:
http://mathantics.com/index.php/section/lesson/solving_2step_equations http://www.virtualnerd.com/middle-math/equations-functions/solving-two-step/practice-solve-two-step-equation Today, we reviewed using reciprocals and solved 2-step equations with fractions. Hw- finish maze.
Today we practiced solving 2-step equations. For hw, students need to complete at least 5 of the problems on the maze handout from today. I also gave out the study guide for the Post Test coming up before the break. It is not due for a while, but I wanted students to have it to practice at home at their own pace. Some of it we have not learned yet. The Unit 2 Post test will be taking place the week of 12/19. We will start on Friday 12/16 and we will work through it until Wednesday 12/19.
Here is the study guide key. Mrs. Teague was out for a meeting today. Students reviewed solving one-step equations and using distributive property. No hw.
Watch this video to prepare for working more on solving 2-step equations. https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/one-variable-linear-equations/alg1-two-steps-equations-intro/v/why-we-do-the-same-thing-to-both-sides-two-step-equations Today, we learned about solving 2-step equations.
HW: Try to show a family member what 2x + 6 = 48 meant today! (A boy went to the fair and wanted to know how much money he had to buy tickets...) Also, watch videos about 2-step equations on the resources link. Today we reviewed yesterday's work on solving inequalities and reviewed for answering test questions. No hw unless you were told that you have things to finish up! We will be answering test questions as we learn the material so it is not forgotten. A study guide will be coming home soon for review at home. Look for a key posted tomorrow!
